Get Set for Summer

It's time for another shamelss plug! After working on this project for the past few months, I'm proud to present...

Girlfriend's Summer Special!

It's jam packed with fun things to do this summer, fashion, beauty, DIY, reviews, boy stuff and more. Some of my fave spreads are below:

My friend Ally tells me that there's heaps of stuff in there for the "non-teens" like you and me, so check it out at your local newsagent today!

Bad way to start the morning

I just got dumped. As in, the heavens just opened up and dumped the biggest storm on me right as I stepped off the train at North Sydney to commence my 10 minute walk down the hill to work. Suffice to say, wearing thongs, and using a dodgy, half-broken, fold-up umbrella was not helping my cause. I am now soaked! The sky is pitch black, all cars have their ligths on and the streets are starting to flood a little. This certainly doesn't feel like summer to me.

The weather has been so crazy and unpredictable this whole year. You can go through four seasons in one day, and don't forget your jacket for the arctic air conditioning in the office! It's looks suspisciously like London outside and the thunder at the moment is so loud, it's almost threatening to bust open the roof abouve my head.

No wonder so many people are moving over the border to Queensland...

Amazing photos

Check out Reuters 100 news photos of the year here. My favourite is this one below:

Philippines ... more than 1500 inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Centre perform Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance as part of their morning exercise, August 1, 2007 / Reuters photo

Warning: Some of the images will make you a bit squeamish.

Gold and Old

I have become lazy and sloppy with my blog posts... I apologise. It's almost Christmas and my brain is running low on inspiration - must be the high petrol prices or something. Anyway, I thought it high time for a new Gold and Old list, inspired by the now defunct, but always loved, Chik magazine. Enjoy!

Gold: Lilac nail polish. My fingers and tootsies are adorned with this gorgeous shade (mine came from Sportsgirl, $7.95. Bargain!) and I have to admit, I can't stop looking at them. It's the perfect pastel shade for when you're feeling a little overwhelmed with all the fluro that's splashing about on the streets (especially now that most teens are on school holidays!). Ps. Sportsgirl has their new magazine/catalogue out in stores now, and it's hot!

Old: People who stand up and want to push their way past you on the train, two stops before they're due to get off, just so they can be the first one off the train. Chill people! If you've nabbed yourself a seat, just enjoy it 'til you get there. I promise the train won't leave with you still trying to force your way out of the aisle!

Gold: Friends being back on TV. I can't believe I never saw the first-ever epiosde!

Old: When some of your fave products are replaced by "new and improved" versions, which are not improved at all, in fact, they're worse than you could ever had imagined but you continue to use/eat your beloved product, cursing it each time that it's not the same, all the time wishing for the ol' faithful to come back. Case in point - Milo Bars (remember, before they had those crappy rice crispies in them). And where the hell did Smiths Tomato Crisps disappear to? Or was I the only one who liked them?

What's got your goat at the moment? Leave a comment and let me know!

Ewww!

What is Nelly Furtado thinking?

In this case, blonde is definitely not more fun.

More tempting than a tray of pink cupcakes

I really think I should unsubscribe to whole lot of the daily newsletters, blogs and "news" reports that currently fill my inbox and make me feel a whole lot more popular than I actually am. Reason? There's just way too much temptation! Currently on my lust-list...

These TDF chunky heels as see on model-of-the-moment Agyness Deyn, but in a much more favourable price range from the ever-amazing Topshop. (Thanks for the tip off Who What Wear Daily!) Luckily they are out of stock right now.

Awesome invention!

The winner of why-didn't-someone-think-of-it-sooner award, in the category of fashion, goes to Milk and Honey's new range of "Sweet Cheeks" jeans. They're designed with a bra for your bum! Genius designer Gill Milligan realised that not bums are created equal, and so the "A Fit" and B Fit" jeans were born - A if you've got a boyish bum, and B for curvier girls. Can't wait to try a pair on!
