How good are public holidays!? Even though Anzac Day falls on a Wednesday this year, I'm not complaining. If Tuesdays were really like Fridays more often, it would make the working week much easier. However, I am not loving this weather. Sydney's had a cold snap, and this time it might be for real. I actually had to pull my jumpers out of hiding this morning in preparation for coordinating outfits for work. It doesn't help that our office is permanently like an igloo.I'm not a winter person. Give me a hot, sunny, cloudless day at the beach anytime! Strappy dresses, slurpees and sunnies = pure bliss for me. I agree that fashion tends to be more stylish in winter, but it is also hugely more expensive. No $20 dresses, no Sir-ee. You need so many layers, that the outfit total quickly adds up! And when the heavens open up like they have this week in Sydney, it makes dressing that little bit harder.
Canvas and suede shoes are out - they'll be soaked in a second (as I experienced last night walking home through the city - my flats seriously felt like mini buckets of water that my feet were soaking in). Umbrellas don't do much to protect your legs and feet. Also, long jeans are out if you're wearing flats. No-one likes that soaked up to your knees feeling when you arrive at work. So my safe outfit for today comprises of tights with boots, a dress and long cardie... with a parka just in case.
I hope the weather is better up in Queensland for this weekend - I'm going home for four days and there's nothing like rain to ruin a good holiday. Especially when you're staying at the coast.

PS. I saw my first show in the Opera House on Friday night - the Australian Ballet's Don Quixote. I can't believe I haven't seen a ballet earlier... it was really beautiful. If you've never been and you're under 26, check out their special youth prices on their website.
